I developed wibi surf because I am passionate about surfing and photography.
For 10 years I have been surfing waves and teaching how to surf them.
I worked with different surf schools in Holland, New Zeeland and Portugal. Now it is time to share my passion as a personal surfcoach!
Who is behind Wibi Surf?
My name is Wijbrand Houmes; I am 33 Springs young Dutchman from The Netherlands. Everybody calls me Wibi. After years of surfing and teaching in Holland, it is time to follow my dreams and explore beaches around the world. So far, I have been surfing and teaching in Portugal, Spain, France, New Zealand, and Holland. I understand the struggles of a beginner and intermediate surfer. As a coach, I always try to find the best waves for my students. For a few years, I have had a new passion, taking pictures of beaches, surfers, and nature. During my travels, I work with a local surf school as a freelance surfcoach. But I also organize private surfcoaching, photo and video-coaching, and surf camps via Wibi Surf.
Wibi is a fully licensed ISA Surfcoach and lifeguard with over 5 years of experience in teaching. Wibi is also part of the judging panel for the Dutch Championship of Surfing. Wibi has taught wave-surfing for schools in Holland, Portugal, France, Spain, and even New Zealand. I love surfing myself, and I am still learning every day! After years of experience, I decided to start my own company so that I could combine my passion for travel, surfing, teaching, and photography.
Where is Wibi Surf?
As a traveling surfcoach my location will change from time to time. Most of the time I stay at a place for a few months or a full season. While work together with local surf schools for equipment and to get local knowledge. Knowledge about the best beaches, food, places to stay and more.
What does WIbi Surf offer?
During my travels, I work with a local surf school, teaching how to surf as a freelance surfcoach…. But you can hire me for private lessons and group lessons for Beginner or intermediate surfers. The lessons are personal, and we will examine what works for you. We take time to understand the ocean, board choice, and your development. These lessons are for surfers that really want to improve and keep surfing after the classes. During these lessons, I will take my camera to the beach so that you will have some quality surfing pictures.
The lessons and coaching are possible in German, English, and Dutch.
Furthermore I organize surf camps for beginner and intermediate surfers. these camps are focused on becoming a better surfer! learning in good conditions and really get an understanding of the ocean and your own development. Included in the surfcamp is surftraing, video-coaching wave theory, yoga and surfskate.
If you rather just surf without coaching, but you want some quality pictures…just let me know! We can plan a shoot and I will take some pictures while you are enjoying the waves. .
